We make presentations to management, staff and female staff networks on the benefits of gender equity and diversity and the many related issues, including mitigation of unconscious bias. We also run workshops for managers and staff to address these issues and to develop new insights and skills.
In our presentations and workshops, we cover topic areas such as:
the magnitude of the gender problem in Australian organisations, particularly in STEM
common beliefs about gender issues within organisations — and their veracity
the benefits of gender diversity (cultural, ethnicity, gender, age, etc) to organisation
the accuracy of the senses
the power of the unconscious mind
cognitive bias - how it arises and how it impacts all areas of diversity
the most important biases in decisions about people
gender bias - how it affects decision-making, particularly in recruitment and promotion
male/female differences in areas such as assertiveness, self-estimation and self-confidence
gender stereotypes - what are they and why they become dysfunctional and stereotype bias
an effective leadership model for women
a unique and useful model for understanding the career development of women
gender issues relevant to women working in male-dominated organisations
mitigation of cognitive bias (conscious and unconscious) - and why formal unconscious bias training is not effective at removing bias
principles for categorising and minimising cognitive bias
managing gender issues in the workplace.
The output of our workshops is a tool for both immediate and future use by participants for better decision making relevant to both their careers and their own staff.
